Our Roof
In the Spring of 2023 a wind and hail storm damaged our roof. My wife noticed several flipped over singles where the northwest roof met the northeast roof. We got an appraisal from the Farm Bureau, expecting that repairing the damage would cost less than our deductible, but the appraiser detected hail damage to the roof, especially on the northwest side. Having been pleased with the work previousIy completed by the Ross family, I contacted Ross Roofing, and Jamie Ross came out and gave us an estimate on 30-June-2023. Repair of the roofs (both our house and our shed) took place during the third week of July.
Here is the new roof in July, 2023:
Here are the nails I swept up from the lawn, not as many as last time.
Hurricane Irene tore up our roof in August of 2011. Here is what one corner of the roof looked like:
It took a while to get the insurance claim processed, but shortly after that David Ross Roofing put a new roof on our house, on the 4th and 5th of October, 2011. Here is the new roof:
Although the roofers used tarps to reduce the number of nails that got into the lawn and used a magnetic sweeper to get some of those that got into the yard anyway, Sylvia and I found a bunch of nails in the week after the roofers finished. Suspecting that we were missing some, and knowing how roofing nails are attracted to tires, I purchased a magnetic sweeper and walked it around the yard. Here are the nails I got on the first pass around the house:
I am confident that there are plenty more nails in the flower beds around the house, but since I don't run my mower through them, I am not going to worry about those nails now.
